About Us

SoHo Insurance Inc. is an insurance brokerage created in late 2005 to develop insurance products specifically designed to address the needs of Ontario’s social housing community. SoHo Insurance Inc. is a subsidiary of the Housing Services Corporation (formerly the Social Housing Services Corporation), which provides value-added programs to social housing providers and municipal service managers across Ontario. HSC delivers a wide-range of services including investment, group insurance, natural gas purchasing, research, training and energy management programs.

History

  1. In 2007 SoHo became the sub-broker for the SHSC Group Insurance program on behalf of the Social Housing Services Corporation (now the Housing Services Corporation or HSC). Today, the program covers more than 680 housing providers and more than 170,000 housing units.
  2. In early 2008, SoHo launched its Tenant Insurance program – a low-cost insurance option for residents of social housing. SoHo continues to develop more insurance solutions for the social housing sector.
  3. In 2009, SoHo began offering a Home & Auto Insurance program for social housing staff and board members in partnership with the Co-operators.
