As the holidays are fast approaching, so is HSC’s/SoHo’s holiday office closure.

Our office will be closed on Friday, December 23rd and will reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd. Please note that applications for tenant insurance will not be processed during this time.

We realize that you are requiring your tenants to purchase tenant insurance and that you require proof of valid insurance as a condition of allowing them to access and move into their units. However, please note that no resident of social housing or recipient of OW or ODSP benefits will be refused insurance from SoHo Insurance provided the premiums are paid. Therefore, we recommend that you make copies of your tenants’ applications and methods of payment to serve as your proof of insurance. When our office reopens on January 3rd, applications will be reviewed and processed in the order they are received. We will try to accommodate special requests but our response time may be slower than usual.

Potential Canada Post Disruption

In anticipation of a potential Canada Post labour disruption, which may result in a complete cessation of postal service, we would like to direct our clients to the various methods of submitting tenant insurance applications and premium payments other than by regular mail.

Information, applications and payment agreements may be printed from our website or you may contact our office and we can send them to you by fax or by email.

Applications may be scanned and submitted by email at tenant@sohoinsurance.ca or by fax at (416) 360-3711. Payments may be made by Visa, MasterCard or American Express by telephoning our office. You may also make a direct payment at one of the following major banks (telephone, internet, in person): CIBC, TD Canada Trust, Scotiabank or BMO and send the proof of payment by fax or email along with your application. You may also email or fax your Void cheque or Pre-Authorized Debit form if you wish to pay your premiums monthly.

We would also like to remind our clients and their landlords that no resident of social housing or recipient of OW or ODSP benefits will be refused insurance from SoHo Insurance provided the premiums are paid. We realize that you may require tenant insurance as a condition of a lease agreement and we will do our best to accommodate all requests to provide proof of coverage. The volume of applications received however may delay our ability to fulfill every request. Therefore, we recommend that you make copies of your tenants’ applications and methods of payment to serve as your proof of insurance at all times but particularly in the event of a postal strike.
